KU students offer funeral prayers in absentia for Yakub Menon
Srinagar : Kashmir University students Friday post prayers offered funeral prayers in absentia for Yakub Menon who was hanged on early Thursday morning in Nagpur jail of central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
Witnesses said that hundreds of students and other employees who had gathered for Friday prayers offered funeral prayers for Yakub Menon and former Taliban Chief, late Mullah Omar.
“Students also showed solidarity with the Muslims of Jammu,” a student caller said. Octogenarian Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani had appealed people to observe this Friday as ‘Day of Unity’ with Muslims of Jammu.
“The students left the place peacefully later on,” one of the witnesses informed.
